Annoucing Kennywood Comicon!

New Dimension Comics joins Kennywood on Father’s Day to present a super-sized event: Kennywood Comicon!

Featuring comic book vendors, artists, creators, and pop culture attractions, Comicon will descend upon the home of Kenny Kangaroo, the Phantom and the Jack Rabbit on Sunday, June 18.

“I’m thrilled to partner with Kennywood to bring our comic book resources together into one of the most fun venues in Pittsburgh for a great event,” says Todd McDevitt, owner of New Dimension Comics and promoter of 3 Rivers Comicon. “We are both in the family entertainment business, so joining forces is a natural fit.”

The event will be held at Kennywood, with many vendors and attractions set up around the Lagoon area. Artists will be featured in the pavilions.

“We believe Comicon will be a big hit with our Guests and provide a little extra bonus to all the fun of a day at Kennywood,” says Kennywood General Manager Jerome Gibas. “Creating special events to bring added value to our guests has always been a practice of ours, and we’re excited to leverage the popularity of Comicons with this event.”

For this special day, patrons who come to the park wearing a superhero shirt will be admitted for just $25 instead of the normal cost of $47.99. All attending will receive a special custom edition Archie comic book, Betty & Veronica #1, featuring an exclusive cover by Robert Hack showcasing the Archie gang enjoying a day at Kennywood.  Hack will be on hand to autograph copies of this collectible comic.

More details can be found as more elements are confirmed at www.ndcomics.com/kennywoodcomicon, including information on vendor and artist sign up. Kennywood Comicon will run throughout the course of the park’s operating day, which begins at 10:30 a.m.

More on Comicons : Comicons are comic book conventions held annually around the world. These conventions feature comic vendors as well as top comic book artists. Fans in attendance can purchase comics and merchandise as well as getting their own items signed by their favorite artists.
