publicity_meGeorge Broderick

GEORGE J. BRODERICK, JR. began cartooning at age five when he peddled drawings of Mighty Mouse, Woody Woodpecker and Popeye from the back of his little red wagon to the unsuspecting neighborhood moms for a nickel a sketch (which George still considers one of the highlights of his freelance career).

George has worked as a professional in comics since 1982. Since then, he has written stories for DC Comics and Marvel Comics and done artwork work for Innovation Publishing, Now Comics, Airwave/TV Comics, Moonstone Books and Bongo Comics.

2016-03-02-atomic_bear03George currently creates and publishes his own line of books (Holy Cow Comics) and an annual Christmas comic under the Cool Yule Comics banner. He also posts web comics appearing five days a week at: http://www.townburgcity.com.

George’s biggest ambition in life is to become one of the most beloved characters in American Folklore!

Artist Joe Wos is Coming to NDC Saturday June 20th

joedesk2Joe Wos has been a professional cartoonist since the age of 14. His career path over the past 30 years has taken as many twists and turns as one of his mazes, as he finds new and innovative ways to pursue his passion for the cartoon arts.

Some highlights include spending 25 years touring nationwide as a performer, illustrating stories live as he told them; founding and running a cartoon art museum in Pittsburgh; illustrating symphony performances live with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra; and exhibiting his art in museums worldwide. He recently published his first book- The Three Little Pigsburghers as told in Pittsburghese. With MazeToons — a unique hybrid illustration that is part cartoon and part puzzle — Joe has fulfilled a lifelong dream to appear in the funny pages.

Joe has been drawing mazes since the age of 7 and is regarded as a master maze maker. In 2012, he created the world’s largest hand-drawn maze. Measuring at 140 square feet, it features more than 100 illustrations. The maze garnered international attention with articles in the Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post and media coverage throughout Europe. One of his mural-sized mazes is on permanent display at StarKist’s international headquarters. MazeToons is distributed by Creators Syndicate.

With great delight, he has heard every variation of the phrase “A-maze-ing.”

Joe will be appearing at Century III from Noon till 3pm and Pittsburgh Mills from 5pm till 8pm.

He will be celebrating his cover of Popeye Classics #35 out now from IDW.
